I'm sure you didn't stretch your stomach but I'm guessing you're referring to alcohol at 10 days out? All drs are different but did yours not give you guidelines for alcohol?

Sounds like you're good then! Just keep in mind those are empty calories but I'm guessing it was just a vacation thing?

Yes deffanatlly jst a vacation thing !!! I've terrified myself thinking I've done some sort of damage

But you weren't concerned while you were actually drinking?

I ask because I am a food addict and for me, I was never thinking of the binging while I was doing it. I only experienced regret and concern afterwards.

If you are a food addict as well then you may want to be aware of addictive behaviors resurfacing.

Every doctor is different. Mine don't want us to drink alcohol for 1 year because it has a much more effect after surgery. Most people feel the effects of alcohol after just a few sips. You're also drinking empty calories that can sabotage your weight loss goals. BUT if we do drink it to make sure it's 30min plus after we've eaten. The food will help absorb the alcohol as not to get loopy.

I have given up alcohol completely as its empty calories. The aim of the sleeve is weight loss and drinking wont help. It all depends on how serious you are about loosing weight. That's just my opinion but I really don't think you should be drinking that much so soon after surgery regardless of what it is. Good luck with the weight loss.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
