I am 4 weeks today. I am really tired at bed time but am not sleeping well. I was sleeping restlessly and waking up thirsty so I made sure to have plenty of Water in the evening and a little Protein. I am exercising and was hoping it would help relax me. If I fall asleep I wake up about 2:30 -3:00 and toss and turn. I have to get up at 5 for work so I am so tired. Is this part of vsg or am I just having insomnia? What's okay to take? I usually take benedryl for sleep problems but worried it would add to dehydration.

@DICKENS 22

I am too having the same issue 4 weeks out and not able to sleep I am a bit concerned as I have to get up for work. I do not want to be tired @ work. I think I am going to try the Tylenol Pm to night to see if that helps.

I went through the same thing around that week I told my hubby I feel great I just cannt sleep. Lol I was with my eyes wide awake in bed. I even tried napping during the day and I couldn't. I was to the point where I wanted to ask for sleep aids from my doc. I asked the doc what was going on and she said I might be taling my B12 to late in the day or too much. And yes I was taking double the dose and late in the afternoon. So now I only take it in the mornings and every other day. That help me a lot.

Also, it depends on when you're working out. I cannot work out very much in the evenings or I get an energy burst, whereas a colleague cannot do mornings or she falls out at her desk. Try rearranging your workout and making sure your Vitamins are not too late in the day.

I remember waking up a lot at night my first few weeks post op. Much of that was caused by having to get up to go to the bathroom -- that's how I know I am losing weight, I am peeing a lot.

Later I found that if I had a high-Protein snack, like Greek yogurt just before bed, I could sleep 'til morning. Greek yogurt or cottage cheese is good because it is not hard to digest and your stomach won't work on it all night.

Thanks for the input! I am working out at night so that could be an issue. I am trying the Protein before bed and that is helping. I have been sleeping a little bit better.

      Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

      The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

        Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
