At least with hunting your dealing less with the stomach/groin as with the shoulder. I'm gonna miss fishing for awhile. I blue Water fish and the rod's butt is typically right in the gut.

I never thought of that. I guess you won't be able to yank on your rod for awhile.

You should be fine. I had my surgery Aug. 27 last year and I was hunting in the middle if Oct. my buddy shot a elk at the end of Oct. and I helped him pack it out. He shot it at 0830 and we did not get back to the truck until 0130 the next morning. We had to pack it straight up a hill. I had a few choice words for him around 2300. You should enjoy hunting a lot more without the extra weight to haul around. I am really looking forward to this year being down 140 pounds. Pack lots of Protein in your pack! Have fun!

You'll be fine. 4 weeks out and I was roofing. However I'm worried about this deer season. Down 50 lbs already and hunting clothes already way to big.

Uh...yeah. Venison chili is the best.

My wife takes deer meat and soaked it in milk over night which takes the wild taste out of any wild meat which a lot of people use vinegar. But what she does is in a Wok like the Chinese uses she cuts it up in small pieces and cooks it real quick adding pepper then she makes a milk gravy and when it is done she puts it on yellow rice and it is awesome.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
