Alys3129 24 Posted July 27, 2013 I am so confused! When do I take the multi vitamin...drink the shakes... Drink water.... Broth.... Anyone come up with a good schedule to fit this all in?
blash67 82 Posted July 27, 2013 Write down the schedule and time yourself if you need to. Put it on your iphone if you have one and use a timer. My NUT wrote down some sample scheds.
MIJourney 490 Posted July 27, 2013 At 3 days out I was taking my Vitamin in the morning and just drinking whatever I could whenever I could. I was still sleeping a lot on days 2 & 3 with naps that 1st week. I was not getting my Protein numbers in but was sipping as much as I could so I was not dehydrated. Mostly chicken broth, nectar protein and sf popsicles.
Brownrek 21 Posted July 28, 2013 I tried to work with mealtimes..broth at lunch and dinner, shakes mid morning and mid afternoon and sipping Water all day long. I found it better to take the Vitamins in the middle of the day when my stomach wasn't empty. I was told the broth and shakes count as part of the 64 oz of liquid.< /p>
jenni9579 18 Posted July 28, 2013 3 days out and I'm also so confused. I've started my Multivitamin, but haven't started Calcium yet. Still very tired. I can't seem to find a comfortable enough spot Day 3 is winding down tho so maybe it'll be better tonight. Kind of hard to take deep breaths and hurts on my lower left side. Hopefully in a few days it'll be better. I worry about everything tho.

A lot of the pain has to do with the anesthesia and the gas that they used. The pain will go away, take deep enough breaths that you make yourself cough, it will hurt so hold a pillow over your abdomen but the more you do it the sooner the pain will disappear! That was one thing that was required before I could leave the hospital.
jenni9579 18 Posted July 28, 2013 Thank you!! I honestly don't know what I'd do without this app!! It's the best! I'm going to hang in there and keep breathing and coughing. Thank you again!

jenni9579 18 Posted July 28, 2013 When Ieft the hospital yesterday, they had me drinking a little medicine cup of Water once every hour to see how we'll I tolerated it. Then it moved to 2 of those little medicine cups every hour. I'm not sure of the measurements but I got those down fine.

The 4 oz of Water per hour is a minimum floor, not a maximum ceiling (at least for every surgeon's plan I have seen). If you can do more and it doesn't bother you, go for it! No gulping though. And you may want to try variations on water -- warm tea (I found mint tea particularly soothing), G2, Powerade Zero, etc. They all help keep you hydrated.
