FibroDiva 60 Posted July 27, 2013 I am will have my surgery on August 01, 2013 at Little Company of Mary Hospital in the Chicago Metro area. I have Fibro, degenerative disc disease, bilateral carpal tunnel and bilateral plantar fasciitis, and Migraine headaches. I was on heavy duty medication and could not tolerate them. I am hoping to have a successful VSG!!! I have had Fibro since 1992. I was a police officer and sustained a series of injuries on the job. I have been struggling with my weight ever since. Besides having a family history of obesity and obesity related death, the various meds used to treat my pain have resulted in my weight problems. Beside FM, I have sleep apnea, bilateral carpal tunnel and plantar fasciitis, degenerative disc disease, chronic fatigue, Migraines, high blood pressure and cholesterol I think I am realistic about my upcoming surgery. Even though I have heard that weight loss reduces the symptoms of Fibromyalgia, I am undergoing surgery to improve my overall health and reduce my obesity related risks. If my Fibro gets better, that will be a wonderful benefit. If my Fibro gets worse, then that is anticipated possible side effect.

FibroDiva 60 Posted November 3, 2013 Good Luck to you. Are you feeling any better since your surgery? And good luck to you Goslin. I was doing great before the weather changed. I do not do so good when it gets cold and snowy. If you can, ask your Fibro Doctor to prescribe physical therapy about 1 month or so post op. PT helps manage flare ups and fight flab as you begin losing weight. Make sure to ask for liquid, chewable, or dissolveable versions of any pre-op Fibro medications you might be taking.
