Having lunch with an out of state friend the 1st day of my soft diet...

Recommended Posts

I have a friend who I haven't seen in over 6 yrs. She and her hubby are flying out from TX (to OR) in 2 1/2 weeks to visit with family. We're meeting 3 hrs away at an Olive Garden for lunch (they are about 6 hrs from us and to save us both from the big drive, we're meeting halfway). I had my sleeve on July 16th and am on a full liquid diet for 4 weeks. This will literally be my 1st day on soft foods (refried Beans, eggs, tuna salad, etc).

I luv Olive Gardens chicken gnocci Soup. Do you think they would puree it for me? It's already soft, however the chicken is a little chewy. Has anyone ever asked a restaurant to puree something for them? They're a restaurant, you'd think they'd have a blender in there! No salad (no fresh veggies for 90 days) or bread, just soup.

Any ideas?

If you don't want to raise suspicion, you could be sneaky and just eat the broth. :)

I have a friend who got RNY last month and she hasn't cooked a meal in i don't know how long. She goes out every few nights and has the restaurant of choice purée her food then takes the leftovers home and eats it for the next couple of days.

I went to Olive Garden during my soft food phase and I ordered the Soup, couldn't even eat half a bowl, but the sure did enjoy the broth. You could just make sure to cut up any chunks and chew them very well.

You will be surprised how little you can actually eat....so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just order some mashed potatoes or very soft noodles or something that YOU can mush up...you will only be able to eat a few bites anyway.

I went to Olive Garden around 4 weeks on soft diet, and had the minestrone Soup, I just ate the broth, with the softened veggies, I didn't eat the Pasta as my NUT doesn't allow pasta until 6 months or more post op. The soup was really good, and easy to eat.
