startingtolivenow 8 Posted July 27, 2013 Hi all I am 5 weeks out now. We are headed out if town tomorrow and I am wondering if cooked veggies like squash and zucchini are ok now. I have had eggs, tuna, fish, and all have gone down really well. Also, when is a salad alright?
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted July 27, 2013 My dr. says no cooked veggies until two months out and no salad or other raw veggies until six months out. But what's really important is what YOUR doctor says . . . did they give you a booklet or something for guidance?
TES 858 Posted July 27, 2013 I would go by your surgeon's guidelines also. My surgeon allowed really mushy cooked veggies during the mushy phase and then other veggies at 6 weeks out. Iceberg lettuce could be tried at 4 weeks but I waited till 6. Other lettuces at 6. I really never had trouble tolerating anything other than broccoli and cauliflower that weren't cooked well around 6 to 10 weeks. I can eat them raw now at nearly 6 months out. I like eating veggies bc they fill me up, they are low cal, good Fiber, and I can eat about a cup of them bc of the Water content. I usually eat them as a snack bc I can't eat much of them after eating Protein.< /p> 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
flyme_places 99 Posted July 27, 2013 My Doc said I should have veggies (9 days post op) they just have to be REALLY cooked. And to eat your Protein first and veggies last. No salad yet though. But that's just my surgeon.
