Yes or no? I've wanted some for a few days but too afraid to try it.

Really depends I what your doctor said. I know people who drink wit watered down right after surgery, while my surgeon doesn't allow any fruit or fruit juices u till almost goal weight.

Orange juice has a lot of sugar. Juices usually have added sugar, aside from just the fruit. I wouldn't have if but if its not against your nutrition plan it won't hurt unless you're newly post-op then the acid may wreak havoc on your stomach.

You could try the Syntrax Nectar Fuzzy Navel whey Protein. It doesn't taste exactly like orange juice, but close enough. And for 1 scoop in 8oz of Water you are getting 23g of protein.

Have a small glass you'll be fine. It will curb your craving, give you some vit. C then back to your plan. There is added sugar in juices of course but it won't sabotage your LIFELONG journey with your sleeve. We need to remember that this path we chose has changed us permantly and we need to now be more decisive in our choices from now on but not to deny us the good things God has provided for us to enjoy albiet in much smaller doses.

It is ok pre-post op per my nut/surgeon. No pulp, though.

I'm 7 weeks post - op and bored with dairy based Protein Shakes. What have you heard about "no sugar added" fruit or vegetable juice in Protein shakes?

What does your surgeons plan allow? I would follow it. I'm allowed fruit, I had 10 blueberries and 2 oz. of cantaloupe yesterday......but no acidic or high sugar fruit which is what orange juice is. If you can't resist just drink a very small amount and take small sips to see how it affects you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
