I ate vegetable fried rice tonight, the entire container! I ate it over 5 hours, I'm bloated & full now! And, I'm terrified I stretched my sleeve! I'm about 6 weeks post op, I have lost 31 pounds! I am so mad at myself right now I want to puke!! I have to eat better!! I hate myself right now! I feel so nervous about it!! Do y'all think I stretched my stomach??

It would have to be over-filled again and again for it to permanently stretch (according to my doc). So, don't panic.... just try not to binge very often (or at all).... but eating it over the span of 5 hours is a good thing - some digestion would have occurred along the way... Don't worry! Go do something now to "make up" for it....take a walk? Some heavy house cleaning? That's what I do when I stray off course briefly...

You may want to stay away from rice, Pasta, potatoes & bread for a while. At least while you are still in your "losing" phase. Protein first and you won't have room for them anyway. Good luck with your journey :)

My advice is to learn from your mistake and realize fried rice is a trigger food for you.

At this point I wouldn't worry about a stretched stomach... I would worry more about your binging behavior. At six weeks out if you are already trying to stuff, you are in for a long hard road ahead. I suggest that you get into a therapy group or a private therapist that specializes in disordered eating.

Yes, I do not want to berate you or make you feel bad, but the worry about stretching is secondary. This is a good wake up to anyone considering the sleeve, too. You can eat around your sleeve if you choose to do it. You'll be uncomfortable for your efforts, but it's not that hard to do. And there are even easier foods to do it on than rice, that's for sure!

Now is the time to step back and acknowledge this is a problem and work on it. You definitely do not want to have undergone such a major and drastic surgery only to find yourself two years out and frustrated that you've lost very little.

This needs your attention or it's a problem that will only get worse.

Best,

~Cheri
