Hi everyone! Just have a question.

I will be 6 weeks out on Monday. Physically I have been feeling great. Some days I still feel very tired and weak but everything seems good. I lost 4o pounds so far.

Since the surgery I have been feeling so moody. Mainly angry, defensive kind of mood. Today I completely lost it. A woman cut me in line and I totally flipped out on her after I politely told her she can't do that and she didn't care. We went into a full argument!

Normally I would ignore and move on but since surgery I just want to choke people for stupid things. Has anyone else felt this way???

My youngest has told me I've been pretty crabby lately, but in reference to stupid people, like you encountered today, I just can't help myself but to set them straight & it has nothing to do with weight loss.

Yeah, my inner b***h is coming out a lot. Hey, ya' think it's because I'm not pushing the anger down with food anymore?

I am 5 weeks out today. I have been feeling like my temper is hot or things can make me want to cry al of the sudden. (I hardly EVER cry.). I don't know if it is related to surgery or if it is regular female hormone problems. Not really liking the roller coaster ride. Some of it might be the 30 to 40 days of rain we have had...

I'm starting to think its the combination of everything everyone mentioned. I felt so horrible arguing in front of my daughter like that! I was like this isn't me!! What is wrong with me!

Also feeling like "stuff" in my house is closing in on me and I want to pull a dumpster up to the house and throw everything away. CRAZY!,

I have also experienced intense feelings over things that aren't entirely rational. One of the stories I heard at the WLS support group was a woman who started crying over the new tires on her car because they were "so beautiful". Her husband thought she had lost it and called the surgical support person to ask if this was a "normal" behavior. The answer "yeah, get used to it"!

We consciously made a decision to stop using food to numb or deal with our feelings. That is a huge change and it is to be expected that there will be some emotional repercussions.

I'm trying to make "Don't sweat the small stuff" my new motto!

I am 1 week & 1day post op & had a melt down yesterday. I could not stop cleaning the house & then later flew off the handle & locked myself in my room because my family & my daughter were going out to eat for my daughter birthday & even though I can not eat I was still never asked if I would like to go until I threw a fit about it. Made me feel invincible just because I had my surgery. I could have taken a protien shake with me & drank that while they eat just as I do at home. Sad part is only a few days after my surgery my sister & her kids were here visiting from texas & everyone went out to eat & I was asked & I went & drank my shake but at least I was able to enjoy time with them all. I really felt like I was losing my mind yesterday & had began to think why did I do this??? But then I remembered that I did it to live a better healthier life but not to be ignored or to feel invincible.

My husband says I was crankier, probably the hormones. I find my attention spand has decreased too. Exercise seems to help burn off the nervous energy.

I am almost 5 weeks PO and am just now beginning to feel like myself more often. I was moody and often felt sad and wondered why I did this to my happy, although very overweight, self. My mojo is starting to come back. You will get there too. Hang in there!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
