LisaCincyRN 13 Posted July 27, 2013 Anyone have any problems scuba diving after the sleeve? I love to dive and I'm hoping it won't be an issue down the road.
JCAMDK 0 Posted July 27, 2013 I have not been scuba diving since getting the sleeve last month. I'm really nervous about it as well. Let me know if you find out anything.
Beach Lover 1,084 Posted July 27, 2013 I didn't scuba dive but I did just do a lot of snorkeling and diving last week without any trouble at all. I am 7 weeks post op and enjoyed every minute of it! I only went to about 10 feet and that was work! At this point I am still a human cork and getting this body to stay down is work!!
getlownurse 105 Posted July 27, 2013 I'm a month and two days out. Went diving yesterday. Had no problems, but we stayed at about 15 feet most of the time. I did go down in a 30 foot cavern for 5 minutes or so. Had a tad bit of dizziness coming up, but that happened to me several times before. I'm thinking it's more of a diabetes thing. Good to see other divers here. Out of curiosity, where are y'all located? I'm Florida, we have some amazing springs and locations to dive.
Canary Diamond 186 Posted July 27, 2013 I'm in Oregon, but I've only been diving in Hawaii, the Philippines, and swimming pools. 1 getlownurse reacted to this
Saltmistrose 24 Posted July 27, 2013 I'm a "diver want to be" when I get my weight down a bit more. I am only 12 lbs. off my surgeon's goal weight of 209. I think I need to do better than that before I start learning to dive. I live on a small island in the Pacific off of Auckland, New Zealand. Perfect place to dive. Are there problems associated with diving after sleeve surgery? Good luck to all of us!
LisaCincyRN 13 Posted July 27, 2013 I live in Ohio, not a good diving place. I started diving a few years ago and love to dive the Flordia Keys while visiting family/freinds. We have pools and a few quarys around here to practice in but it's not the same. I'm just thinking with my weight changing keeping myself down might be an issue the first few times. I'm planning a trip to Key West later this year, maybe I'll just snorkel the first day out. Thanks everyone for the feedback! I'm going to keep looking into this
Oak Park Lorena 162 Posted July 27, 2013 Planning a dive trip for next spring, probably Bonnaire, I'm looking forward to not having to wear so much weight on my belt! 1 LisaCincyRN reacted to this
