Day 9 Post op and Hungry!

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 7/17 and have been doing well with my liquid diets. Tuesday I will be able to have purée foods but all day I have been contemplating putting the salmon I cooked for my family in a blender....the craving hit me again so I just went to the freezer and grabbed a Popsicle to take my mind off of this...I am gonna get through this.

I was sleeved 7/15 and just blended cream of broccoli Soup. And I had a bite of avocado. Oh boy, was it good. I literally ate 3 tablespoons and felt like I could fall asleep. How are y'all doing otherwise?

I'm supposed to be on full liquids for 2 full weeks & I was sleeved on 7/16. I've been starving! Today I broke down & made a portion of Idahoan 4 cheese mashed potatoes (they come in little cups, just add Water & nuke.) OMG, I thought I was eating some gourmet food! It went down well (I did eat slow) & for the first time in a week, I won't be going to bed hungry!

I have an appt on Wed with my surgeon & I'm going to tell him I want a refund! I thought he was supposed to cut out that part of your tummy that brings on hunger. He must have missed mine because I could eat a subway sandwich most times!

I"m only a month out, but I remember 3 weeks of unbelievable hunger. It was ridiculous! I wasn't prepared for that kind of hunger either. The full liquid diet seemed like a reprieve after the Clear Liquids for a week, but I just stayed in a pissed off mood and couldn't stand my Protein Shakes. I even went so far as to chew on some food and spit it out. I know that sounds ridiculous, but I was hungry and it was better than nothing. I don't know when I will ever want another creamy Soup again either. Being on soft Protein, I still crave salads and crunchy vegetables. Prior to surgery, I juiced vegetables almost daily and ate a lot of salads.

Just know that it's normal to feel ravenously hungry. Try not to eat your children and keep your wickedness to yourself. I sent my own self to my room to spare my family.

Coming out on the other side of it is a glorious thing! You can do it!

I was hungry too! I'm 18 days out. Someone told me to take 2 Prilosec OTC because that hunger pain is gas and it absolutely helped.

The thing that is amazing is how good food tastes when you finally get to have it! You are so grateful!! Two bites of mashed potatoes is like heaven. I love that part of this plan - that you don't have to think "oh I will never get to eat that again". You WILL get to eat pretty much everything, just smaller portions!

Sending hubby to drug store now for Prilosec.....sick of this "hungry" feeling too. And I am one of the lucky ones who is able to introduce new foods as tolerated!

Hi i believe it's head hunger. Try eating a Popsicle, drinking more fluids. Try walking .. Even at 11 months post op I get head hunger and once I start drinking my fluids it does get better.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
