Wow, close! Hang in there, Kim! Being a bit nervous is quite normal.

I was nervous but joked my way through it to look tough for my wife. She saw through my humor smokescreen, of course.

So what happens at the pre-op? Mine is aug 1 and I've been wondering.

All I had to do was blood work and get all paperwork completed so there is less to do the morning of. I thought I was gonna have an EKG but I don't have any other issues so I was good to go! I know a lot of people do have to get EKG's. I was in and out in about 1 hour!!! I am so ready. Even found out that it will be at 7:30AM, bad news I have to be there at 5:30AM :)

That's a good time to be there! Doctor's are fresh and if they've had their coffee, wide awake and ready to do their thing.

An hour! Wow! I was told my pre-op meeting would be 4 hours at least!

Either way in excited! I start my two P shakes a day and a good dinner on Saturday.

Good luck to you!

I had an EKG in April @ my physical......I was told I needed an EKG before surgery/approval by a cardiologist clearing me for surgery.....so I had one in May......this week at my pre-op appointment, they told me I have to have another because that's too far out.....I wish they'd have told me to schedule the cardiologist appointment closer to the surgery date.....what a waste, ya know?

So I have an appointment on Tues. @ the hospital for pre-op testing....they'll do an EGK, blood work, and a chest X-ray. Plus I'll meet with the anesthesiologist.

Congrats to you Kim, I'm having my surgery on Monday the 29th and I did my labs on Thursday. I'm feeling the same way as you are now. God bless and good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
