Hi Everyone!

I joined the sleeved side on 7/17, so I am on day 9 post-op. I have been doing very well, getting in my liquids and about 35-40 g of Protein a day. Have lost 11 lbs, not very sore any more, and had a follow up with the Dr yesterday who was very pleased.

All of a sudden, today, I feel like I've been hit by a bus energy-wise. Ran a few errands and came home to sleep for 2 hours, something I have not been doing.

Is this normal? Low caloric intake and protein lack causing normal fatigue?

Thanks for chiming in, those heroes who have already walked this path! I promise to repay the favor to someone else!

How funny, Sleeved on the 17th, too and I have not yet gotten out of my pajamas today and took a nap.

Wasn't sure if it was the rainy weather here or that I over did the walking yesterday but not feeling particularly energetic today.

Hi, I too was sleeved on 7.17, I have been taking naps everyday so you must have been doing maybe too much too soon. I went back to work this past Wed.and have been taking it easy. Starting back on the heavy liquid phase has helped my energy so I hope this will be the case for you too!

Of course you know you're still healing. Each day can feel vastly different. Don't force yourself to do too much. Take naps as needed, drink your Water, and try and get Protein if you can.

Go slowly and you'll be okay.

Ups and downs energy-wise are normal. Keep up on your Water and Protein and take naps like everyone said. Vitamins help, too, especially B12.

Get someone to give you a back massage. It doesn't help your energy but you might as well milk the situation. :D

Hey, another 7-17 sleever. Have been having ups and downs too. First few days home were really hard.

I tend to feel good in the late morning and worse in the evenings. Burping constantly. Also finding it difficult to get my Protein drinks down.

Thank you all! I got the back massage, made sure to up my Protein a bit, and feel more like myself today. I guess it will just be ups and downs for a while. I needed a reminder that this was major surgery and also a huge nutritional switch! Best wishes to all of you, especially my 7/17 pals! Tomorrow I move to soft foods! Exciting!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
