Recommended Posts

I have my egd today at 12:30. Its going to be a looong day at work with nothing to drink (havent had anything since 10pm last night). Right now my mouth feels dry as a cotton ball and my stomach is doing flip flops. im so anxious just to get it over with! I cant even have gum or a mint to suck on?

You will be fine, I promise! I had an endo/colo on 7/11. It was no biggie at all. Just a teeny bit of a scratchy throat from the tube being down there.

The worst thing was the bowel prep solution the night before for the colonoscopy.

I woke up within 10 minutes after they were finished.

Best of luck!

yeah im really nervous. i cant even swallow pills so the idea if a camera going down my throat doesnt sit too well with me. i am hungry but i could deal with that. I EXTREMELY thirsty though. i like to have my ice coffee in the morning.

Im afraid by the time i get there my breath is going to stink lol. Im gonna try to rinse it out before i leave work. i really should of taken off work so i could of had it done in the morning time but i couldnt afford to take the day off =(

It's yet another step closer to getting your tool that will help you towards health. Enjoy the nap!

Mine is today at noon. For me a test for h pylori bacteria will take 2 weeks to culture . If negative, then surgery will be scheduled. if positive, my surgeon will require a 6 week treatment (antibiotics) before surgery.,

Also having a colonoscopy - was due for one anyway and insurance requires double whammy since I'll be out anyway.

Blessings all!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
