My insurance is BCBS of Michigan and they require 6 months if supervised diets too. Thankfully, it has to be with in the last 4 years. 2 years ago my doctor put me on adipex and I have 6 months of documentation. So I had to get the documentation but that parts done!

I had to do 6 months as well. The first 3 months felt like forever, then after month 3, time flew by. My first appt was 2/24 and my surgery is 8/6. I used the time to help prepare myself mentally and read as much as I could.

I titally agree the first half went so slow, but now i am struggling to fit the last few appoinments in before i go back for my second consultation. I have been using this time to make peace with myself and the food.

Congrats on your decision! I am pre-op' date=' surgery scheduled for 9/11. I, too, am nervous and anxious, but when I have any concerns at all I turn to the wonderful people on this forum. If not for VST I'd be a wreck with wonder and worry of what's to come. So my best advice would be to take advantage of all of the knowledge and experience you'll find here! Good luck on your journey <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />[/quote']

Hope you are feeling well!

I am doing well. Still very sore, unable to bend or lift anything and I get very tired easily. But luckily no complications and NO PROBLEM getting all my Water in. The only thing I didn't expect is to have food cravings so soon! I'm still on liquids for another week, the two weeks of puréed and then two weeks of soft foods... Already I want junk: burgers and fries, pizza, sweets. I guess it's going to be a much harder struggle to change my ways than I originally anticipated!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
