Heyher 581 Posted July 25, 2013 I have been on a round of prednisone for a recent MS episode and man is it messing me up!! I thought they were brutal before, but my tiny tummy is pissed off. The only thing that doesn't make me almost vomit or crap myself is oyster crackers. And I know the salt and carbs are not helping me lose weight. Even Water has a metallic chemical taste. One more week to go.....
adargie 159 Posted July 25, 2013 I have a close friend who has had to have the steroids due to MS flare ups. She always talked about how nasty everything tasted for days after, and how she was an emotional mess because of them. DO you think the flare up was caused by surg? Wishing you the best and a fast recovery!!

Heyher 581 Posted July 26, 2013 Thanks! With MS a lot of the times it's hard to pinpoint what caused a flare. I had surgery in feb and it didn't start until the end of may. The steroids make everything unappealing and taste bad. It's only temporary, but man it sucks. :-/
HatheryOnHerWay 603 Posted July 27, 2013 What does an MS flare feel like?
Heyher 581 Posted July 27, 2013 For me I get very fatigued. Think back to day three postop. Been feeling run down like that for a while now. Also I can't grip things with my left hand. I don't have the muscle coordination to hold things. My left leg is weak, unbalanced, wobbly, and numb. Feels like I have a few 10lb weights strapped too tightly to my leg. Then there is cognitive. I fumble for words, mispronounce words, constantly lose my train of thought, and for extra fun add a handful of anxiety. 10 years after dx and I think I'm doing pretty good. Just noticing I'm not bouncing back from episodes to 100%.
