3weeks post op. What to eat?

Recommended Posts

I don't know what to eat. I've been craving Subway and salads and I know I can't yet. Need ideas

I am 3 weeks and on puree. So far my favorite is to throw a couple meatballs in the food processor with a little sauce and ricotta chees. I'm also making chicken salad in the food processor with some low fat mayo, some mustard and seasoning but getting tired of that. Can't wait to start soft food!

What did your Drs post-op instructions say - depending on your surgeon - the suggestions above may not be right

This is true. Every surgeon is different. I was on full liquids for two weeks then moved to soft/purée for three weeks before solid foods on the sixth week. I was sleeved 7/1.

I'm four weeks out. I was sleeved on 6/24 and i think i missed out on the puree and minced stage because i was afraid to try different foods. I just eat a scrambled egg for Breakfast with 8oz of Protein Shake (one scoop with milk is 41g of protein) all through the day is Greek yogurt from lite n fit, sf popsicles, and plenty of icy waters. I also brought sf applesauce, diced peaches n pears packed In Water. But for dinner i try to baked a small piece of salmon and a small sweet potato. Just try not to over do it. And go for plenty of walks.

At three weeks out I was on full liquids, "nothing that won't go through a straw" is what I was told.

I'm 3 weeks and on most regular foods. I eat chicken from my crock pot, meatballs, meatloaf, turkey burgers, cheeses, deli meats, veggie sausage with melted cheese, scrambles eggs with cheese and salsa, guacamole, etc..

Edit: I'm eating everything that was approved from my surgeon. He progressed me at my last check up :). I'd suggest to do what your surgeon says.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
