wordygirl74 45 Posted July 25, 2013 I feel like I've been holding on to my sanity by a very fine thread the last few years. I have a son that's almost 4 and I really don't think I've been the same personality wise, patience wise, tolerance wise since he was born. I wasn't ever diagnosed with PPD but really wonder if maybe I had it. I'm considering making an appt to talk to my PCP about getting started on some meds to see if that helps. I'm scheduled for my sleeve 8/29. Anyone start taking meds right before surgery? I appreciate your comments...thx.
Sassygirl06 962 Posted July 25, 2013 I didn't right before surgery, but I did about 6 months before. It is what helped me to finally be able to think clearly about getting help for my weight. I was always in denial about needing some sort of tool. I am two years out now and I have been off of those meds for over a year now, and I am doing wonderfully. Just because you need to get some chemicals in check doesn't mean you are crazy, or that you aren't normal either. You may not need them forever, but goodness I know I needed them for a while. Good luck to you. And good job at recognizing that you may need some help!
Rox 200 Posted July 25, 2013 You should get started right away because they take a couple weeks to kick in. My surgeon asked me to taper off one of my antidepressants for the surgery. Truthfully, I may miss about 5 days of my normal medications, but i'll get right back on them as soon as I can take them.
