Does anyone know of a support group in Ottawa, Canada area?

I am looking for a support group in Ottawa. I have not yet booked my surgery (am thinking of going to Mexico to get it done) and have lots of questions (finding a good surgeon, location, post-op support, etc.).

Hello Heather :). Thank you for responding and offering answers to some of my questions. I would really appreciate benefiting from your experience to date. My email address is dianesleeve22@gmail.com. You can email me to give me your email address and I can send you questions or I could call you instead if that would make things easier for you. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks again.

Hi diane..sorry i have not gotten back to you till now..life is busy busy getting ready for surgery in 5 weeks...there isnt much to tell regarding how i went about picking a surgeon... i kind of just went 123 your it!! Well not quite like that...i went over to the Mexico forum and read lots of threads to see what doctor was popular...then i googled the name of the surgeons in order to find out wuat company they are through...then i started shopping for the cheapest price package..when i found the price package and the company...i then emailed the company and asked lots of questions and waited to hear back..its not as complicated as it seems..there are a lot of people who work with the different companies and they tend to get back to you with info right away..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
