I feel you! And why does every commercial have to be food! It makes me want to smash my television.

I completely understand and feel the same way. I get hungry but can't eat! I a

Tired of food being hit or miss if it will make me feel sick. Things smell different and taste weird as well. I feel like going back to all liquids until this feeling passes.

Eating is going to be a pain in the ass chore that I don't have time to deal with. I no longer have a choice.

So something so human like enjoying is gone I've accepted that.

Good thing I have enough else to keep me busy' date=' and after this much living hell there be some weight loss with this much f**king sacrifice.[/quote']

You are still very early post-op. Don't assume you'll never enjoy food again or only eat as a necessary chore. Eating becomes easier and more pleasurable eventually for most of us. Almost everyone deals with some depression as we grapple with all the emotions that we can no longer use food to suppress. The difficulty for me has become that I now WANT to eat and I still crave all the same s&$t that I always used to eat and got me soooo f-ing fat! However, now if I eat too much sugary food it makes me feel crappy. I don't throw up or have dumping syndrome but I just feel ill when I give in to those sugar urges. The experience of feeling icky does help my will-power to resist my trigger foods at least. Also, you will discover eventually that there are "slider" foods that go down easy and that you will be able to eat more of. Not all slider foods are bad i.e. hummus and avocados. Almost anything can become a slider food if you chew it enough but the obvious culprits for me are frozen yogurt and potato chips. It's not that I never eat things that are yummy and potentially detrimental to my wright loss, I just try to make those foods a very occasional treat. I have good days and bad days with food, just like anyone else who hasn't had WLS. The difference is that now I can't eat the volume I used to eat and I remind myself when tempted that I didn't go thru a surgery just to blow it for a quick sugar fix. Give yourself a big hug and credit for loving yourself enough to go thru a surgery in order to improve your health and quality of life.

pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274; 4 month post-op 266.2; 5 month post-op 262.6

I bought a cup warmer and put my food in a small glass condiment bowl. It was perfect to keep things warm. I'm 18 months out and don't think I eat any different than before VSL, a lot less, but technic is close to the same, I can even guzzle Water now. Good luck to you.

Is it really that big of a shock? I haven't had mine done yet but I can't imagine not being hungry. It is just foreign to me. I'm afraid is what I am. Afraid that I will screw this up somehow like I've done with everything else I've tried to lose weight.

You will be perfectly fine, take what you read and use it as a reference. You can never imagine yourself not being hungry until after the surgery. If you stick to what your drs tell you and continue using the board as encouragement and support you will do wonderful!

I hope so. I am eating a cheese and meat roll and it is grossing me out. I don't want to eat or drink and I don't have any hunger making me want to eat. Today I ate a piece of chicken 2oz and some mashed potatoes, and the roll I mentioned. I also had a Protein shake and have another to drink. UGH, Disgusting :-) I want to go to McDonalds and eat a fatso meal and drink a coke.

PERFECTLY normal. Use the time to develop non-food activities and make healthy low fat, low carb, high Protein choices. MUCH easier to teach yourself to make good choices, now, while food doesn't have the hold over you.

I too am worried about the eating after. Always ate huge portions, always hungry, never satisified til stuffed. Now evry meal I have out with my husband there is a discussion about what it will be like after vsg. He says you won,t enjoy everything, he will have to slow down his eating because I will have to, he thinks I will never want to cook again and I am only worried that I will not like my favorite food eggs which r so good for the Protein and I would miss terribly.has anyone had the experience of not liking something and then the taste for it comes back?

OMG! Your McDonald's craving! LOL! Two weeks post-op is a bit too soon to be eating cheese and meat roll IMO. I was still eating full liquids and just starting the pureed stage at that point. The 1st month post-op is hard. At 8 months post-op I am able to eat normally, about 1400-1500 cals. a day, which is not starvation and much less than before surgery when I averaged 2200-2700 cals a day. I do find I now LOVE salads, seafood and fish and don't eat much beef and pork because it's hard to digest. You can eventually go to McDonalds but you may not like it as much as before. Try to remember why you decided to have the surgery. The sacrifice has been totally worth it for me. Not eating at McDonald's vs. living my life to the fullest; it's not even a contest!

I always find it interesting how different Dr have different practices. My Dr said I can eat lunch meat and cheese after 1 week and anything week 4. He said my stomach is completely healed after week 5. I eat eggs, cheese, lunch meat, chicken, fish, canned Veggies... I did 1 day stage 1, 1 week stage 2, 3 weeks stage 3, then anything I want.

One thing I enjoy right now are wheat thins. There is something about hearing that crunch.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
