@newgrandmother, hey fellow September sleever!!! I am so glad I am not alone. I have been having the same issues with myself. I haven't lost weight in the last few months and I THINK I'm still doing ok, but I have come to this conclusion. I have lost approximately 140 lbs since I started my journey, that's a whole person!!! Not wishing this on myself but if I don't lose any more weight I'm happy with where I am now. I am more aware of my eating habits and I wouldn't have loss that much weight on my own.

So I guess I'm saying don't give up, just hang in there. Our 1 year is approaching fast and I know you feel better now than you did a year ago, I know I do.

Keep up the great work that you have done so far and never give up on yourself, YOU GOT THIS GIRL!!!!!

you are definitely not alone. I am at 5 months and when things start to slow I get worried it is happening to me. I don't know if it will help but I have decided that on every three month surgeryversary to go on a 1-week preop type liquid diet. it helped me at 3 months to get things going again and I plan to do it again at 6 months. I usually have 1200 cals a day and going to 800 for a weeks seems to kick things up. I also have not gone too crazy exercising yet (just walking) because I feel like saving things in my back pocket for further slowing issues to step things up! I think the 5:2 or a week of liquid diet then back to normal may get your metabolism going. I also recommend tracking everything on myfitnesspal if you don't already. sometimes you may think you are tracking okay but it helps to keep me honest and I know for sure what the Protein and especially sugar grams are. keep sugar under 25g and you WILL lose!

I am kenmj11 on MFP if you want to friend me. I have a long way to go too! good luck and be proud!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
