An update: Today was the first of two psych visits. Today I took the 338 question test, and met with the psych. After I took the test, she reviewed the results with me, and finally indicated that I was a good candidate for surgery, and her recommendation was that I go ahead with it.

Good news...another hurdle jumped!

Hi MWin... Same boat.... My boys are at summer camp this week and next and so I'm in doctor visit marathon mode! First appt with my surgeon last Thursday & nutritionist, cardio, bloodwork, psych, endoscopy, ultrasound all scheduled this week & next! When do you estimate you'll have surgery? I'm most likely going to have it in October.

I am required to have 4 dietician visits. Those will be completed early-ish October, if I can get them scheduled right...then I should have everything done and just wait for the date, which I hope will be October or November...I wish it was yesterday... Lol

Thanks so much for your post...it does sound like we are on a similar path for sure!

Thanks so much LBD....sometimes I feel a little 'lost' in these forums, so it's nice to have a buddy to talk to. Best wishes to you as well.

I've been relatively lucky...the first visit was the 24th, second visit the 20th, third visit the 16th, so they seem to be inching it up. The last visit isn't apparently with the dietician, so since its a different person all together, I am going to ask if I have to wait the full month. The dietician seemed to indicate that it was a hoop that even she didn't agree with me having to do, since this person has nothing to do with the surgery process. They just want to see that a 'physician' has signed off on it, regardless of the fact that I have never met with that physician and my dietician is perfectly capable (and more informed) to sign off on it herself.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
