awaters 6 Posted July 23, 2013 On July 17th I came to the day surgery center at one of our local hospitals for my Gastric Sleeve I was excited but nervous at the same time I was to be there at 8:30 am with a surgery time of 10:30 am at 6:05 am the phone rang It was the surgery center asking if I could come in early as there was a cancelation I jump in the shower wash everything but my hair and then off we went. I checked in they rushed me to a room set up my IV and then went to the holding area Mr. Anastasia comes in tells me he will be working with another doctor and what to expect then came my Dr. and off we went to the OR. in Recovery while waking up the anastasiologist told me that they had to abort the surgery as they ruptured my eshopogus while putting a boogie down the tube in my through but they did repair it along with a hernia now that today is Monday July 23rd and I'm still in the hospital I might get to go home on Wednesday but I will be on a feeding tube for 6 weeks along with a drainage bag for my stomach this is dependently not what I signed up for apparently it is very rare for them to do this so before you do your surgery please talk with your doctor about this as the next 6-8 weeks I'm not looking forward to

Hope you heal quickly and get past all this and onto your new life very soon with no further complications.

TES 858 Posted July 23, 2013 That is awful. Did they say why it happened? Was your surgeon training another surgeon or a fellow in the procedure? I hope that your surgeon talked with you about it and not just the anesthesiologist. Sending you positive, healing thoughts.
