Hi Pink,

I am starting to get nervous, but my husband is having surgery next week so that is distracting me for the moment. Where are you from/having your surgery? I am having mine in Boston and I am hoping to lose about 150 lbs. :)

Hi! I'm new to the forums but my date is Aug 28th too. I'm really nervous but excited too. I need to lose about 120-130 lbs but I am fortunate to not have any current co-morbidities. Any one else have small children? I have a 12 yr old boy, and two girls, 6 and 5. My son is pretty worried about the surgery and although I know all the risks obesity has I can only tell him so much without making him worry about his grandparents who are also obese. So, I'm trying to help him understand why I'm making this choice for myself, and pray that he understands.

I start my pre-op diet on this upcoming Wednesday. Two shakes a day plus one small high Protein, low carb meal. No Snacks. I think I'll do ok with that, my biggest challenge will be stopping coffee. I love it! I am most looking forward to being able to buy cute underwear. I hate plus size grannie pannies and ugly bras that have straps the size of curtains!

I'd love to hear some others fears, goals, pre-op requirements...etc.

I do have children. My 16 year old doesn't want me to have the surgery at all. She doesn't understand why i am doing it. Then i have two boys ages 8 and 6. I haven't told them much yet as things are suddenly way up in the air. My surgeon wants me to change my date and have a different surgery that i may need done first. Waiting to have another test done next week then the decision will be made on when to get the vsg

you sound like me! I cannot wait to go to Victoria and find out what her freaking Secret is!!! I have to follow the same pre-op diet, but can have a no/low carb snack...I love yogurt so that's what I'm planning. I'm in MD...I can't wait to get off of my insulin, BP and cholesterol meds...I hate that my 8 year old niece has seen me inject myself!

I'm getting really nervous! Im filling out my advanced directive forms and such. I've needed to do it for a long time but right now, with the pending surgery, its making me face all my worst fears.

My pre-op testing is tomorrow and I feel like there is so much I wanted to prepare before this weekend. My last weekend before surgery!

How's everyone else? Nervous? How are you doing on the pre-op diet? I'm trying but like most diets in my life, if I know I could cheat, I do, just a bit. Makes me disappointed in myself. Can't wait till I physically can't!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
