An ice pack can help with the itching too.

At 3 1/2 weeks post op, I'm itchy everywhere. This dry skin is maddening. Eczema lotion is a lifesaver right now.

I am 3 days post- op. I was admitted in the hospital with S. O. B. last night. I have so much gas pain that hurts really bad. It sickens me that others on this forum had no gas pains as I am so jealous of them. I'm finally farting more today then the previous days. They were looking for a pulmonary embolism which none was found thank god.

Word to the wise, get your daily fluids in no matter how uncomfortable they are. If you do experience gas when drinking cold or room temperature it's bc you stomach does not prefer cool or cold. I find its not so bad when drinking warm so I drink a lot of warm tea.

I'm not experiencing hunger as I could care less about food so this hormone (grehlin) really resides in the stretchy part of the stomach and controls my appetite.

I'm just concentrating on getting all my fluids in. I found out the hard way as I was running a 100 degree temp and pushed to get more fluids in and it brought my temp down.

Surgery went well and incisions are perfect and barely bothers me until I have to get up out of bed.

Will report some more later and will answer any questions you may have...

Tomorrow is my day! I know I'm doing the right thing. Surrendering and trusting the medical team is the hardest part for me. Probably need to be more vulnerable in life anyway. :-). Best wishes to all !

Good luck!

Still trying to adjust. I need to get back on more fluids. I feel better on them. Other than wanting a salad food is the last thing on my mind! The thought of it makes me sick. I do hope that this will pass someday. Anyone else feel this way?

Wow, sorry you are having such a hard time. Have you been approved for milk of mag yet? If not maybe you should ask, it helped from day 2 for me, and walking, every couple hours. If you can't get liquid try sugar free sorbet or popscicles if they will allow you to have, will help keep you hydrated. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm actually doing much better as I am still in the hospital right now. I don't know if they are keeping me again. If they do then that would be reassuring. I scared myself so bad. I am getting plenty of fluids with my IV plus they've now allowed me to drink 1 ounce at a time of liquids. I am a big scary cat and feel safer being here. But they may send me home anyway.

They've not mention M.O .M. Would that help with getting rid of gas? I am feeling a lot better but, we'll see if they keep me another day. *fingers crossed*. Remember, I'm a wimp with a low tolerance for pain. I've used the strips and they don't work very well for me.

I was borderline dehydrated and so it's a good thing they admitted me. It hurt to drink baby sips at all but, I know it was because I wasn't taking the pain killers regularly.

Please everyone get your liquids in and don't be afraid to take pain pills it works wonders. You can do it!!!!

LOL! Thanks! Just the sort of answer I hoped to see here. Really a lousy article wasn't it? Seemed to contradict much that my surgeon had said, as well as other things I had read. Now ... If people who have had the surgery (guess I will find them on other threads) will just assure me they did not develop fecal or urinary incontinence . . . And that they are all glad they did this and do not regret it ... I will be happy.

I had my surgery on the 24th, no fecal or urinary incontinence, I do not regret it, was very easy for me, from preop to post only took 2 doses of mild pain meds. Only on an anti-inflammatory to help sweeling in the stomach, would do it in a heartbeat now I just want to lose I am very impatient.

Good Luck.

I get urinary incontinence when I throw up

And that always happens to me not because of the surgery.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
