Thanks Anne.

It sounds like an excellent option without putting family or friends out (like i usually do!) the price sound really reasonable too.

Thanks Anne. Excellent option! I wonder if there is one of these near the TLBC clinic? I've never been to Ontario so I'm not sure how close Dr. C's clinic is to TLBC. Can anyone help me with this?

:help:

Thanks,

Janice

They are quite far away from each other. One is in the heart of the city and the other is in Mississauga.

Thanks Greene. So how far is Miss. from TO in Km? Are we talking 30k or 130k? I live in Calgary and we have some cities such as Airdrie which is now like a suburb of Calgary becasue over the years the city has grown out to it.

Thanks and sorry to be so geographically anal. :)

I am not sure of the geography there either, but I am sure that if you called Heritage House they would be more than willing to help you out. Maybe you should check with the TLBC clinic and see if they have something similar.

It's just a thought.

When is your surgery scheduled for again?

Hi Anne, I haven't scheduled it yet - financing problems! I'm aiming for late August/early Sept. I am currently a full-time student so juggling money and time is one of my pasttimes :girl_hug:

One of the issues I have been thinking about lately was who I would ask to accompany me so when I saw your post, it was very timely. I have been debating whether it would be benefical, not to mention comforting, to have a friend or family member with me since it is major surgery. On the other hand, as Neenagh mentioned in an earlier post, I don't want to put out other people who also have very busy lives plus it's an additional expense for airfare, etc. I was wondering if paying for a nurse would be just as comfortable for me - not sure.

I checked out their website - looks like a nice place. It sounds like you had a good experience at Heritage House and felt comfortable with the care. Thank you for sharing this information. I have added it to my list of things to reseacrh abit more. Pls feel free to private message me if there is any additional info you want to share about Heritage House or any additional thoughts on going it alone for surgery.:)

Thanks,

Janice

Oh, you are not being geographically anal. You just don't know the city. I would be equally as lost in Calgary. In fact I would be kinda lost in Mississauga. :) Think in the 30 km range, not 130. Mississauga is a suburb that lies immediately to the west of Toronto. I've always lived close to the core of Toronto and so I know nothing much about the rest of the city or its suburbs.

TLBC is really close to my house but Dr. Coburn would be quite a drive from here. This is partly because there are no fast highways that lead into and out of the heart of the city. It is city stop and go driving until you can get onto one of the fast roads that feed into the suburbs.

I would guess that getting to Heritage House would take well over an hour of driving (I don't know where it is exactly) but on the other hand it sounds like a fabulous place to recover.

I hope I've been of some help. I know my advice must sound a little vague.

Actually.....if I were to drive from TLBC to the "heart" of Mississuaga it would only take me 30 mins (more in rush hour). Hope onto the Gardiner Expressway from Spadina and take it to the 427....take the 427 north and voila....you are in Mississuaga in minutes.

Thank you Green and Yoda. This really helps me understand the distance much better.

Green: "City stop and go driving" - boy can I relate to this. Calgary is an infrastructure driving nightmare, especially right now with all of our construction trying to eleviate the problems of not enough ample roads to allow traffic to get to main thoroughfares (sp?).

Anyway, yes, I thought Heritage House sounded really nice and a very good option for those of us who have the delimma of not having a surgery companion.

:)

Wow! I just learned something. Thanks, Yoda. I guess this comes of me being a city grrl and a non-driver.......:cry and a blonde. :) LOL

JLB if you haven't committed to the TLBC clinic, you can always have your surgery in Mississauga, and then your problem would be solved for staying at Heritage House. Just a thought.

Maria :)

Green: I must admit, I know my way around TO by car pretty well (and when I say TO I also include North York, Mississauga etc) but if I were to bus or subway it.....eep!!! I haven't done that enough....just the TTC from Yorkdale to Union....that is it! (and the odd streetcar up and down Queen).

Hi Maria, I haven't commited to any clinic yet. I've only recently started researching this as an option for me and happened to come upon this forum just before Christmas. I must say I am excited so far in what I have learned about the Lapband as I have struggled with my weight all of my life.

I was so excited to learned about Heritage House (and I'm sure there may be other places like this). You're right it does solve my problem of having no one to accompany me for surgery.

:nervous

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
