Unjury Chicken soup...... HELP

Recommended Posts

I'm on day 6 of liquids. Last night I was at work in the break room with my mug, my Unjury chicken Soup mix and my Thermometer.... yes, the Water has to be less then 140 degrees. Unjury sends you a thermometer with the sample kit. Too cold, too hot, finally just right. I also have this cute little wisk to use to stir it. It's small with a little pink pig head attached, that also serves as a stand. I found it difficult to stir with a spoon, so I purchased the wisk. Well, it was under 140 degrees, difficult to wisk, and I still wound up with little lumps of Protein Powder. Plus my co-workers think I'm whacked. (and I work on a Psych unit). They think the Thermometer is a little OCD, and the little pig stirrer is too cute. At home I tried a blender and it just got very foamy. Has anyone else had difficulty with this stuff. I bought a whole tub of it and I don't want it to go to waste. Pre-op I can chew the little lumps... but post op it's supposed to be Clear Liquids for the first week.

I use an electric hand blender .... no lumps! Just don't overmix and you won't have foam either. Hea Water in 2 C measure, blend, and pour into mug. Delicious!

I use a blender ball bottle. I have tried everything but what works well is exactly this routine. Heat Water to 140 degrees, i put in the Blender Bottle, I do NOT use spoon which causes clumps for me, and then I put the Protein powder in it and I shake. And it's totally yummy.

Same issues here. Tried it for the first time last night in the microwave (i know, I know) and ended up with a Protein pancake atop yellow Water. Then blended it and got foam with clumps. Will try the blender bottle!

Yes, the blender ball or pour just a little Water in and then use the whisk. After you get all the lumps dissolved, add the rest of the Water.

I find it stirs in smoothly if I keep the Water under 130. Between 130 & 140 is still too hot.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
