Jenniferkatie 21 Posted July 23, 2013 Ok, this is really bothering me...for the last 5 days or so, i've had hickups, anywhere from 1 to 3, within 5 minutes of taking EVERY sip or bit of food, WITHOUT FAIL! I can put my watch to it! This no longer hurts to hickup as it once did (i'm 2 weeks out), but seriously, am i destined to a life of hickups? I really hope this is just something temporary and not perminent...but i'm really beginning to wonder...anyone eles have this problem and does it ever go away? vicster247 8 Posted July 23, 2013 I also get the hiccups a lot. I asked at the doctors and they said no one had every said anything about hiccups. I had my surgery on June 26th and they have gotten better so I don't know if it is a result of cold or warm foods or eating to fast. But I wondered also it others on here had this issue. Its something I can live with it just cracks my family up. 1 Jenniferkatie reacted to this
Jenniferkatie 21 Posted July 23, 2013 It doesn't seem to matter whether its cold or hot or room temperture...And frequently it's not instantaneous but a few minutes after i drink or take a bite of food...luckily it doesn't hurt when it happens but seriously, its embarasing when i'm constantly hickuping at work!! And we have to drink ALL THE TIME so i'm litterally hickuping in front of my patients!! Today was my first day back to work...i hope this is temporary! Lori228 60 Posted July 23, 2013 I had them terrible in the hospital but I also had hiatal hernia repair and my doc said it was the irritation on the diaphragm that brought that brought that on. I had a terrible time when I was in the hospital and had the pain from the gas but it got better week by week and I occasionally get them now when I eat and it feels it is at a certain level. Kind of like my cue that I had enough. Not all the time and not too bad any more. 1 Jenniferkatie reacted to this
jenns08 19 Posted July 23, 2013 I had the hiccups for 10 minutes the evening after my surgery...I thought I was going to die! My surgeon gave me a troubleshooting chart for different symptoms. It says that if you get hiccups, then you are either eating too fast or too much. Maybe try taking smaller sips or drink slower. I don't know...I feel you on the hiccups though. I feel like I have sneezed more the past week (I was sleeved on the 16th) than I have in my entire life!! That stuff hurts!!!
fazekasr 30 Posted July 23, 2013 I am almost 8 months out when I eat too much or to fast I get the hiccups. Smaller portions and slower.
T'snewstart 251 Posted July 23, 2013 Yes I have them after every meal. I hiccup once or twice and that is a sign I am done. My friends call it my built in alarm. When they hear me hiccup... the all say simultaneous she full.... it's become the norm now. I use it to my advantage... I know that is the time to push away the plate.... GypsyQueen 198 Posted July 23, 2013 My husband and both kids sneeze every time they go outdoors (from home, from a store, get out of the car). It's simultaneous and hilarious. Now that I have my hiccup, I don't feel so left out. Sorry to make light, I hope they do get better for everybody.
