My doctor told me to take Pepcid AC's at least for the first year. Every doctor is different, call your doc.

Suggestions?

Did you get a list of approved meds? It's usually on that list. Tums is ok. As is the Pepcid AC someone else suggested. But alway check with your doc...

Are you taking a PPI?

My doctor recommended Omeprazole (which is the active ingredient in one of those well-known brands - I think Prilosec?), which is a PPI. They wanted me to take them for the first 6 weeks, which I did. However, I am at 4 months out now, and have been having some recurring heartburn problems, so I am going back on the Omeprazole for 2 weeks to try to knock it out. I get the generic form of it at costco - MUCH CHEAPER than buying the name brand! And it works just as well.
