swimmom 124 Posted July 22, 2013 My doctor recommended Omeprazole (which is the active ingredient in one of those well-known brands - I think Prilosec?), which is a PPI. They wanted me to take them for the first 6 weeks, which I did. However, I am at 4 months out now, and have been having some recurring heartburn problems, so I am going back on the Omeprazole for 2 weeks to try to knock it out.
