natynat22 95 Posted July 22, 2013 So today begins the TRUE journey of the start of my new life! 3 sugar free carnation milks a day and 1 cup veggies with only Clear Liquids to drink! I have been reading that the first 3 days are the worst for this begining but all I can think about are the foods I crave on a daily basis. I think this will pass but what are some things everyone else is doing to pass this time by? I think my nerves are a rumbled up too, making me want to eat of course! Its so exciting and scary at the same time to be experiencing something I never thought I would be able to do! Anyone have any tips for getting through this time? AmyInOrlando 348 Posted July 22, 2013 My pre-op diet is only liquids. Sometimes when you think you're hungry, you're really only thirsty. Flavor your Water with Mio, Crystal light, or Dasani drops if that makes it easier. Drink, Drink, Drink. After surgery we'll be sip, wait, sip wait. Get those fluids in while you can. If you stay hydrated it will be easier to find veins for your IV and bloodwork. With luck, and a good phlebotomist you'll only have to get stuck once. That's my motivation for staying well hydrated pre-operatively. I hate needle sticks.
