Weigjt gain at 4 weeks?

Recommended Posts

How is this possible? I know I'm not getting enough calories and fluids in! Could this be causing it? It's very hot and humid here so I'm thinking maybe I'm retaining water! Especially if I'm no where near getting in 64 oz! Help!!!!!

If its hot, you loose Water, not retain it which is why people get dehydrated in hot and humid temps. It is normal to gain some, then drop even more in another week or two. I went from 193 to 190 to 194 to 193 to 188 back to 191 and this morning am 190 and have been stuck for weeks now!

Well that's good to hear its normal! I will say though that I have Water retention problems and even have prescription water pills. It is much better than past summers which I'm sure is due to the weight loss, but I still feel it a little bit! I'm going to concentrate in hydration today and see if that helps! It really is a full time job eating and drinking enough! Thanks so much!

Very normal in the first few weeks. Heat makes us swell and don't way every day! It will make you crazy!!

I agree with the "don't weigh every day" mentality. Drives you crazy! I do it - however! LOL :) I work outside and drink LOTS of Water - also sweat out a lot. But, one day last week I had something high in sodium and noticed I wasn't urinating much - hopped on the scale - and had gained 2 pounds! It was back down a couple of days later :)

I agree with the Water retention. Was also told that it takes 6 to 8 weeks for everything to drain from your body from the surgery - gas/IV fluids etc. I am trying to just follow the post-surgical instructions very closely and weigh myself at the Doctor's office when I go. For me, the daily weighing in would be a struggle. I weigh in on Wednesday. Best of luck through your journey.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
