Exercise is essential for losing fat, lifelong exercise. Adopting a lifestyle of activity is like hiring a bodyguard against fat.

At 7 months post op I'm finally exercising. My weight loss is now verrrrry slow, but I'm still losing but now I'm toning. I've gotten more compliments with my last 3 pound loss (a month) due to the firming and toning. Plus emotionally, it's the bomb! Feel so much happier and excited about life when I'm active!

I encourage exercise but I ave been at a three-four week plateau and am only 8 weeks out and I do the ellyptical 5 days a week for 45 minutes and it doesn't seem to be making a dent. I do feel good about exercising and feel stressed the days I skip so creating a good habit is rewarding. Just want to say that exercise may or may not help the weight loss. I was told (don't remember by who) that weight loss is 70% diet and 30% exercise.

I had to stop exercising due to having my gallbladder removed and it took about a month for me to get back on track. The scale has gone up a few pounds but I look and feel better. A lot of people are commenting on my weight loss. I would recommend starting but stay away from the scale for a few weeks.

I am 10 weeks out and frustrated by a 5 week plateau. I am going to have to start working out HARDER- but I thought the weight loss would be a little more consistent during at least the first 6 months!

I feel the same way. I hit a plateau at about 3/4 weeks out and since then I have only lost 13lb since and am in week 13. 1 lb a week makes you want to scream! The thing is I'm keeping my calories low, protien high, and working out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
