food in your stomach increases the chance of aspirating stuff into your lungs and dying during surgery...no joke. There is more than one reason they put you an Clear Liquids for a few days and that is one of them. This is a very serious matter and don't let your addiction further harm your health. Sorry to be harsh, but if you're willing to put yourself at such risk over a meal maybe you're not ready for this surgery.

What are your surgeons instructions? Whatever they are is what you should do. They will know what you have eaten or not eaten when they slice and staple your stomach.

All drs are different. I had to do Clear Liquids the day prior. My dr did not require a pre-surgery "cleanse" because of the 2 week pre-op being so lo-cal and clear liquids the day prior.

NO NO NO...... you're way past the time for food funerals, besides... think of how many "last meals" you had before you started every diet you went on throughout the years. It's never really worth it.... Whatever you think you want to eat today, will be there a few months from today, and you'll be able to have it... but just in a smaller amount. After the first few bites you really don't taste it anyway. DON'T DO IT !!!! Not only is it unwise, it's DANGEROUS. Your Dr. put you on liquids for a reason. You don't want him to cancel your surgery once he starts do you? That can happen...

If you eat food today, they truly may cancel your surgery. It really is not worth it and if you lie and get by with it, you could have serious consequences during surgery. I would wait. You will get through today... go out and keep active today to keep from thinking about food! Good luck! :D

I'll stay on my liquids today bc I def don't want to be cancelled, CODE BROWN, or CODE BLUE! I'm very anxious/nervous and just trying to sleep the day away so that I'm not nervous or hungry. I am not a good patient. I would appreciate any positive advise and your sincere prayers for my surgery team, my husband, & I please. Today has not been easy.

I found a Groupon for a 2 hour massage and did that the day before surgery. Such a stressful day and that helped pass the time. And made contemplating food impossible for a while too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
