I like premiere Protein Shakes in chocolate. I think they taste like a fudgecicle. They have 160 calories and 30 grams of protein. I drank them pre-op and just started the full liquid stage of post op and they are still really good! If you have a BJ's or Sam's club where you live you can get a case of 12 for 17.99. Good luck to you!!

Mix it down with a little Water maybe. Personally, I don't care for any Protein shake flavors except chocolate but that's just me.

If you dislike the thick Protein Shakes, you may want to try Syntrax Nectar flavors such as Roadhouse Lemonade, Iced Tea, and Fuzzy Navel -- very light and you mix them with cold Water.< /p>

You can get a sample pack from BJ's Bariatrics here:

http://www.bjsbariatrics.com/product/synSamplePack.html

And from some other places as well.

I really recommend holding off on buying full tubs of Protein Powder until after surgery because it is really true, you may like something beforehand and hate it after! That happened to me.

Try Isopure ready to drink from the Vitamin Shoppe. All I have tasted so far are good. The coconut is really good. It is more of a kook aid consistency. Wish I had known about these in the beginning.

So far my favorite Protein is the Gladiator from smoothie king. I bought myself a tub of teh chocolate, I add almonds to it and bananas to it at home with a tsp. of almond extract. Tastes like a chocolate wedding cake. Now this may be biased bc i havent had anything really sweet in a long time but you should go to smoothie king and buy a 20oz one and try it. its 45g of protein

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
