Can someone direct me? What is 5:2?

Recommended Posts

I keep seeing 5:2 posted in various forums, but nothing that explains it. Is it a special way of eating?

I read that 5:2 is for sleevers who are over 1 yr out and won't let anyone under 1 year in their group. I can't wait to join them lol.. NUTs are the nutritionists.... Hope this helps. I am 5 months out yesterday so I'm still a newbie lol....

camihsmith and LBD

not the best definition, but................

5:2 is a "diet" plan of sort - where i believe you don't eat for two days, the other 5 days you eat "normal/small portions" of course

hopefully some one can jump on the bandwagon with a better explanation :)

good luck

I think some members here have had great success with the plan, too. I seem to remember someone saying that it was working well for long-time sleevers in the final push to reach their goals. But I'm not certain; it would be great if someone who uses the program could chime in!

(I would love to have one more tool in my tool belt when the time comes!)

Some of us made it to goal and have gained weight back. We've tried losing the re gain without any success. Have you ever heard of the 5 day pouch diet? It's supposed to get you back on track.

We believe that this gets you back on track and keeps you on track.

Others in the group have been trying for a long time to get to goal and are having trouble losing.

If you click on the post that has all the links on it, you'll learn a lot about the 5:2 way of eating. The people in the group plan to keep eating this way in maintenance.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
