Ate Red Lobster tonight (pic)

I hate eating out for a few reasons. I won't eat out with people who don't know about my surgery now (just family and close friends) because of comments made each time I've tried... nothing to drink? are you sure? why aren't you eating? and the waitress kept asking over and over and then pointing out to everyone at the table that's is ok, they don't charge for Water. I wanted to crawl under the table and die...especially when she brought me a tea with my meal and then looked all offended when I didn't drink it. I just order a water and let it sit there, or ask for my drink in a to-go cup.

I think next time I'll simply say "no thanks, I don't drink with my meals." Hopefully they'll leave it alone after that... And I hate that they think its about $!

I have a card that explains but I've only had an issue with Swiss Chalet. Waitress didn't want to let me order from the kids menu. I've also eaten at the bar and hubby and I share. I take a little meat and some veg. Makes it a cheap dinner too because we're only paying for 1 meal. :)

I think I may start sharing like you said. I don't eat enough for my own plate!

I always share or just order an appetizer. I do always tip extra though., as if we it's two Entrees. I think that's fair since we're taking the servers table from what would otherwise be a higher sale.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
