WHY IS THE LAST 20 POUND SO HARD TO DROP? LATEST PICS

Recommended Posts

Hi,

The topic should read "last 20 pounds" not "pound".. ugghh.. I hate when I do that.

It has been awhile since I posted. Still no loss in 2 months. I'm 14 months out tomorrow. I really didn't know that the last 20 pounds were going to be so hard to get off. When I began this journey, I never thought I would make it into the 170's after starting out at 300. Well, nearly 300. CLOSE ENOUGH! :) I am so grateful for my loss and wonder why I'm not happy right where I am but I'm really not. MY BMI is 28 and I'm still considered "overweight". In order to be considered a "normal" weight, I need to be between 150-154. Losing lately has been so hard. I know my body is happy where it is. I'm in a size 10-12 but mostly 12's. I just wondered if any of you have any suggestions on how to get this weight loss started again. I've tried the pouch test but honestly when I start eating again, it comes back. Maybe just need to up my exercise a bit. I have to admit I'm not exercising enough. :(

Thanks for any advice from you sleevers that are at goal!! I really would like to join you! Below are some of my latest pics... still no difference than the last. :/

Lisa, for what its worth, I think that you look absolutely positively without a doubt gorgeous. You are one of the best looking gals on this sight in my opinion. Just wanted to let you know that.

Mark, Edmond Ok

PS I have my surgery on Wednesday, I hope that I look as good as you when I'm done, but of course I would need a hair transplant also, LOL.

I just wanted to say how "Fabulous" you look & add that "patients is a virtue". It will happen even though it may take longer than what you've grown accustomed to this past year. Best wishes - Karen

You look healthy and beautiful. The last pounds off are the hardest! I am not far enough out to give great advise but some longer out are doing a 5/2 diet. Google it if it sounds like something that could work for you. Increased exercise is always good and lower carbs as general rules.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
