Burping and farting? 3days post op

Recommended Posts

All I do is belch. Take a sip? Burp. Move a fraction of an inch? Burp. Stay still? Burp. All I do is burp. Is this normal?!?? Doctor and nurse doesn't think much of it.

They also said I need to fart by Monday or call them. No farting yet. I've felt a storm brewing since the car ride home (I'm looking at you, stop and go traffic). I've walked a bunch too! Atleast 20 minutes for the past couple of days.

I was sleeved on 7/18. Yesterday my belly was distended and painful. I was so glad when I was able to burp and start getting the gas out.

Choice between breaking wind or being in pain is a no brainer. Let loose and let it rip.

Just make sure you're over a toilet the first few weeks when you do. You can't trust farts too soon after surgery TRUST ME!

I'm a month post op and I thought the burping would never end. Now I only burp when I start to feel full. That's my sign to stop eating.

I was able to pass gas when I got into bed. Don't think I sharted lol.

So burps might become vomits?! Also did you all force yourself to drink??

Sometimes- after I eat- I feel like there is a bubble in my throat and I need to burp. However, if I make myself burp I will throw up. It has to happen on its own.

If you will MAKE yourself drink every few minutes now, it will become a habit and won't be so hard to later. That has been my experience.....

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
