Keep a graph (like on MFP) It really helps to see the overview. I weigh every day, but check the graph and can see what is going on much better, also measure your measurements and body fat if you can now and then, these tell you as much if not more about where you are...

Are you telling me that the dreaded stall can happen while you are on the blessed 5:2!!!? BUMMER!! (Old hippie talk....) I have been lucky so far, but I'm sure its only a matter of time, I had a TON of 2-3-4 week stalls before the 5:2.

Haha! I think that's what imma saying! A good old fashioned stall complete with me having freak outs about it :P

But really my whole weight loss has been a stall with bits coming off here and there...

So don't use me as an example :D

Ha! Me too! I should remember this from my losing days... I've always lost in fits and starts, so I guess this is no exception... Let's see, though. Apart from yesterday's obscene indiscretion with the delicious chocolates (omg were they good...and omg was I sick to my stomach for a couple hours after, also had a cold sweat LOL), I have done fine with fasting and like how it makes me feel. That's good enough for me, and maybe eventually I'll lose a bit...

I don't know how I missed this topic!!!! I started 5:2 sometime in Mid-May... My nutritionist actually is a big supporter of it... She is the one who initially told me about it. My starting weight was about 192lbs... Now I am 175lbs I am doing really great on 5:2 but I also have been doing great with my running as well so I am attributing my success so far with both!!

I used to NEVER give my weight away....My drivers license was such a 50 pound lie! At some point (around surgery time) I just gave it up and started to use the real number. It was pretty freeing.

Feed that was me too! I think my biggest moment for me was taking my husband to my first consult with the surgeon and weighing myself in front of my husband! It was scary but freeing. And a shock to him because, bless him he never saw me "as that big" and thought I didn't need surgery.

It's funny it's almost a NSV... Letting him see, no he knows my number daily and is my biggest cheerleader :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
