Spitting up... everything.

Recommended Posts

So, about a week ago I posted something about being able to eat lots of salad and larger portions ...but then suddenly...for the past 4-5 days, I haven't been able to eat ANYTHING without sliming, spitting up, regurgitating whatever I eat for 30 min- 1 hour afterwards! Even one bite of anything with texture feels 'stuck' and eventually comes back up.....What do I do....? go back to the fluids stage?

Addition: I was sleeved May 15 (approx 9 weeks ago??)

I think you call your doctor...that signals to me that something isn't quite right

I was sleeved a day after you. Sometimes it seems like I can eat my food without any issues, but other times it seems like one bite does me in! Not sure if its the same for you, but I realized that I wasn't always being careful about eating slowly, taking small bites, and not eating dense or dry Protein (baked chicken or other not very moist Protein doesn't work for me yet). The slimies are awful, I've had them a few times. The worst part is when I take a bite and as soon as I swallow it I just KNOW its going to give me the slimies, but I can't take it back!

Usually it only happens to me now when I'm around other people, like when I go out to lunch with co-workers. I feel so self-conscious eating so slow and so little that I get anxious and try to eat at a normal pace. Then BAM......the slimies.

A lot of the veterans have posted on here about eating slowly (sometimes painfully slowly - and I'm impatient!), and chewing very well. I know for me it was good advice, and I'm slowly learning to force myself.

I'm interested to read what others say in response; maybe you'll get some good suggestions or info..

That sounds more serious than what I've experienced. I think the other posters are right - never hurts to call your doc!

Sounds like a stricture to me. I had one and that's how mine progressed. Get it checked out ASAP! Good luck!

That sounds awful for you to deal with- call doctor.going back to liquids to tolerate food might be good until you are checked out.

Sliming is one thing, slimming would be the result we're looking for...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
