46 pounds lost, and wearing the same clothes?!?

Recommended Posts

So frustrating! I've lost 46 pounds so far, and all my clothes fit the same! I want to see progress, results, something! How do you lose that much and not notice a difference? I know the bigger you are, the longer it takes to notice weight loss, and my starting weight was 366, so I know that has something to do with it. But its still frustrating! Where has all that weight lost come from?

Personally I was wearing clothes that really were too small for me, or stretchy pants. Just went through my closet this afternoon and cleared out things that are too big and had fun trying on things that fit again.

Take your measurements for a few weeks. It will help show progress in another way. Very soon you'll be downsizing your clothes! :)

Up until a month ago I was still wearing clothes from 100 pounds ago.. yeah they were loose but not "falling off" loose. then BAM all of a sudden my 28s were falling off of me and I'm in a 20????? I'm not complaining but it was crazy.. So don't worry.. it will happen!

Yep! my first 40lbs didn't do squat for me, then once I hit 50 I had to go down 2 pant sizes! On my way from a 22 to a 16 now :]

Ya, I've lost 37 lbs and I'm still wearing most of my original clothes, however, my sister told me yesterday that I looked like a hobo because my clothes are so loose and hanging on me. She actually cleaned out her closet and gave me some things that didn't fit her anymore(she's lost 55lbs on her own.) I didn't think that they would fit but most of them do, and they're 2 sizes smaller than I used to buy. So don't give up hope maybe your body just needs to catch up with your weight loss. The first places that I actually could tell that I had lost weight were my hand and my feet. My rings kept sliding off and my shoes were too big.

I felt the same way with the first 40 pounds I lost...I measure once a month as well, so I knew the scale was going down and I was losing inches, but I just didn't see it. Pre-surgery 40 pounds would have been 2 sizes! I don't have a good explanation for why we lose it but we don't see it immediately...

I concur with others that said that we "forget" how the clothes were fitting before...I've lost 50 pounds so far and am fitting into smaller sizes, but still not "swimming" in any of my previous clothes...that said,, others who I feel can give objective viewpoints saw it before I did.

Keep it up, even though it is hard to trust, it will become noticeable.

Okay.... I just love this post, it explains how I felt..... at 50 pounds I was still wearing the same clothing, the only thing loose was the bra (sad to report).... and people were not even commenting on the fact that I had lost 50 pounds.... I was like.... someone please notice, I have been working so hard... and then I lost a few more suddenly my 26/28 were too big (had yardsale made nearly 500.00 off of the plus size clothing, not joking, TRUE STORY made close to 500.00 ) so I went for the 24s, guess what I totally went from 26/28 right to 22 BAM... no stopping at 24 at all, happened in a flash.... hang int here, I am in the niddle of a five day stall now.... but hanging there knowing that my body will, yes it will catch up.

I think the articles we see in magazines and things we see on TV skew our expectations. I think much of the size game depends on how you are built and how your body loses weight. In magazines and in tv they show people that lose 100 pounds and go from a size 24 to a size 4. Unless there has been a bing change in clothing size in the last twenty-something years I know that when I lose 100 pounds I will go from size 20/22 to a size 12/14. I lose weight from the top of my head down. The positive side to that is when I look in the mirror at my face I see a big difference the down side is that because my face is thinning out so fast I think that my butt must be really shrinking too and I try clothes on the bottom half of my body and get my feelings hurt. A lot of it is knowing your body.

That would be a big change not a bing change. :-)

ha ha...I sort of liked a "bing" change...reminds me of Chandler Bing from the Friends tv show

Think about what you can do now that you couldn't 50 pounds ago. When I am standing, I can look down and I no longer see my belly sticking our further than my boobs. I can cross my legs. I can walk 3/4 mile without feeling like I am having a heart attack.

I have not hit the 50 pounds yet but I can tell I am loosing by things other than my clothes.

As far as others go, at about 50 pounds, people start saying things like, "I like your new haircut." Your make up looks really nice today." "Is that outfit new?" They don't get it just yet. They will. Very soon.

Hang in there. We are all together.

I have lost and gained the same 60 pounds 10 times and still have never gotten out of my 22's. It is frustrating. The only thing people see is a thinner face. I always say that I lose from the neck up, elbows out and knees down.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
