Ok so I was sleeved on July 8th and I have a question. My doctor has me on 2 weeks of nothing but liquids after the 2 weeks of liquid preop and I'm dying to chew some food. I'm suppose to be on liquids until the 8th. I am looking for advice of maybe someone that had the same deal and maybe started the soft foods early. I just need something. I don't even like sweets so the fruit punch and chocolate Protein Drinks are killing me.

Have you tried thinning and straining cream Soups to give you something different?

I've tried straining chicken noodle Soup a couple of times but I want to try soft foods sooner to try to get my Protein Drink intake down some.

You could strain the cream Soups and then add an unflavored Protein Powder to them to get more Protein, also Unjury has a chicken broth protein powder.

You only have four more days of liquids- you can do this! If you start eating too soon, you can risk hurting your new sleeve, so you really need to be patient and follow your doctor's orders. I drank a lot of cream of Tomato Soup (made with milk) when I was on liquids. It doesn't have a lot of Protein, but drinking all the sweet liquids got to me too, so the Soup helped. Another thing I really liked was the broth from won-ton soup. My hubby would pick it up on his way home from work and he would eat the won-ton's and I would drink the broth. Again, not a good source of protein, but it tasted so good!

I can't have anything like that until the 8th. His diet for the first 4 weeks after surgery consists of Protein Shakes and Clear Liquids. No Soups or anything like that

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
