Just after your operation, did any of you go through intense emotions. Feeling of great love to great anger. One second I'd be just fine and the next I was a mean old witch. AND, PAIN! I'm so glad I had a friend tell me to expect pain when I woke up because if she had not, I think I would of had an anxiety attack. I've had my gall bladder removed but this is a deeper kind of ache. Or am I just being a baby?!? I was banded today! I know it's going to be awhile before my first fill but I know I'd still do the operation despite the emotional rollercoaster. When will my emotions level out?:angry

I didn't remember this happening until I was reading my journal a few hours earlier. I had a bout with extreme sadness and cried for about 3 hours for absolutely no reason. I remember now, that several of the girls that were banded the same month as me were complaining about this their first two weeks after surgery.

Eventually, it will even out and you will probably forget all about it like I did. I think you should write what you are feeling down in your LBT journal. It was interesting for me to go back and see what I had written.

Yep, I remember that few weeks right after surgery of the emotional rollercoaster that my family probably wished that I would have fallen off of at every curve...Your body has just been thru alot and its going to take time to adjust to what you have done to it plus the stress that the anesthetic puts on you too..I agree, put it in your journal and you will look back and laugh at it later on

I am so relieved to read this. I thought I was going nuts. Honestly - this process is way more mental than physical...

Right when i got home i had a major freak out. I thought what did i do, i'm not ready etc. Then i relized that i am ready that i have done the research, that i have lbt to support me and that i made the right decision. Just work through the emotions, you have just undergone major surgery and you body and mind has to heal.

Congratulations on your weight loss. It seems like you are doing wonderful. Dr. Spivak is who I am considering for my weight loss. I noticed that you had your banding done in August of 2006. How do you feel now that you have lost so much weight and was it difficult?

I just feel like I will never be able to do it on my own and I have dreams about being skinny and being able to wear the clothes that i want, but i am wondering if this is for me. It seems that a lot of people do loose weight.

Can you tell me a little bit about your experience so i can make the right decision?

Again, keep up the good work! I am so impressed!

Confusedgirl,

I absolutely loved Dr. Spivak and his care and after care. My weight loss has been slower than I expected compared to previous diets, however the major benefit is knowing that the weight is "gone for good". Where all previous diets it came back every time. So, on that note, I am very very happy with my weight loss and I love my band! It was the best thing I have ever done for myself. Please feel free to PM me if you have more questions.

Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
