timeforchange 0 Posted January 6, 2007 I'm wondering how the insurance company will react when I tell them that the Primary Care doctor I am going to only has 3 yrs of my weight history. I know that one of the qualifications is that I need 5 yrs of proof of being overweight. I didn't have any doctor before this....I only went to walk in clinics when I was sick. I have been over weight since 3rd grade and have the pics to prove it if they want them. Should I be worried?
anonemouse 1 Posted January 6, 2007 Try to contact the walk-in clinics. They should have kept records of seeing you. If they weighed you when you were there, that would count toward your five years.
TracyinKS 7 Posted January 7, 2007 What I did was put together a weight chart, and a picture timeline of my ups and downs..... I went back to my credit report and cut and pasted things that showed up on their like... BALLY's Total Fitness, I went and pulled bank statements that showed my membership in CURVES... I don't even know if this is gonna be required BUT I'm sending it with my file anyway, and I'm hoping it helps... I would say that ANYTHING you can think up that proves your obesity issue would be a help.
timeforchange 0 Posted January 8, 2007 Thanks everyone, I will put together some type of time line....for some reason, I kept most of my gym membership cards and they have pics and dates on them.Thats a start.
barbara465 2 Posted January 8, 2007 I just listed all the programs I had tried, the times, the weight loss, and the amount I gained after that. It wasn't hard to reconstruct and the insurance never questioned it. I wasn't doing anything with my PCP so their records wouldn't have been usefull. Just be creative and hopefully it will be enough documentation for them.
timeforchange 0 Posted January 8, 2007 Thanks, thats very encouraging Barbara. I can list enough for about three pages full! Wow! Congrats on your weight loss! You are doing great! Nicole
DrHekier 0 Posted January 9, 2007 We once had a patient submit photos showing that her weight was essentially unchanged for one specific year that she didn't have medical documentation of her weight. Good luck!
