soocalchic 1,087 Posted July 19, 2013 This is a common side effect, have you ever watched any YouTube videos of people who have been sleeved time and time again you hear them pause and swallow hard I discussed this with my doctor because it was happening to me a lot. He told me that with time that problem is resolved it takes some time for your esophageal sphincter to adapt to your new anatomy give it time I'm 7 months out and it resolved by month 5. 3 DonRodolfo, DeezJeanz and Molly3 reacted to this

Weird....anyone else? THX! I am having the SAME problem! It was actually making me gag a little anytime I tried to eat or drink but I started some zofran today and it seems to be helping with the gag reflex. My dr doesn't seem too concerned, but I'm worried about having a stricture! 1 Molly3 reacted to this

xchubba 5 Posted July 19, 2013 Before surgery I always had problems from Fluid accumulating in my ears & sometimes w/ post nasal drip. After surgery, with some soft foods I would feel like food would get stuck in my throat. Then I would get nauseous. Then I noticed once I vomited, it would be phlegm! I guess I had a bigger problem w/post nasal drip than I thought. I started taking my zyrtec again& no more vomiting! 1 Molly3 reacted to this

Molly3 495 Posted July 20, 2013 I don't know.. It could very well be a stricture!
SuNMooNStaRS816 423 Posted July 20, 2013 I don't know.. It could very well be a stricture! Are you have symptoms of a stricture besides this? The symptoms of a stricture include: CHRONIC VOMITING OR REGURGITATION OF UNDIGESTED food, EXCESSIVE WEIGHT LOSS, UPPER ABDOMINAL OR CHEST PAIN AFTER EATING. If you are I would get it checked out. Are you having excessive acid reflux. If you are it causes esophagitis which is inflammation of the esophagus. With that you do get a feeling like something is stuck and you can't get it down. Feels like a pills of a piece of food is stuck. 1 Molly3 reacted to this

Feels like a pills of a piece of food is stuck. I haven't had any vomiting, but have been on the brink since day 1. I don't know if my weight loss is excessive (down 45 pounds since June 10), I've seen others that have lost about that amount so I don't think so. The abdominal pain and nausea has been pretty much constant since day 1 and the acid reflux just started about 2 weeks ago. That's when the I first started feeling the lump. I talked to my dr and he prescribed Zofran while I'm out of town this week to help with nausea, I already take two pepcids a day...if it's not better by the time I get back in town, we are probably going to do the EGD. SuNMooNStaRS816 423 Posted July 20, 2013 Try a PPI instead of Pepcid. That is an H2 blocker not a PPI. They don't work the same. Prevacid Or Prilosec OTC work if you double the dose. Then taper to once a day. If those don't work you will need a prescription. And of course if it continues yes an EGD will need to be done to rule out a stricture. Hope it all gets better soon!!!! DallasSleeve 30 Posted July 21, 2013 Thanks SunMoon- can you find Prilosec or Prevacid in chewables? I think I'm supposed to be on chewables for one more week.
