Anyone have Aetna Insurance?

Recommended Posts

Im just wondering do anyone have aetna and have been sleeved or has gotten and approval from them? If so what all do they require as in paper work? Do they ask for a 2 year weight history? Im asking because my husband wants to get sleeved but he is the type to not get sick and don't have a 2 year weight loss history. So anyone that can shed some light on this situation PLEASE let me know ASAP!! Thanks!!

I have Aetna. As I remember, Aetna required 3 months supervised weight loss before surgery. As for the weight loss history, I don't know if it was my surgeon or Aetna that required it but all they did was contact my PCP which has records on me dating back to 2002.

I have Aetna, surgery is Monday. If you google "Aetna weight loss surgery requirements" you should be able to pull up thier requirements. I believe they wanted a 5 year weight history. BMI of 40 or higher with no co-morbitities, 35 and higher with 2 co-morbitities. I had to do 3 months check in with my surgeon, 2 nutritionist visits and a psych evaluation.

After submitting everything the approval process to 4 weeks

See my husband didn't go to the doctors. He had surgery abouy 7 or 8 years ago. They have his weight so he may be able to use that???? Hopefully it won't be any problems

They required 90 days supervised diet and 2 years of weight history.

C_TimesThree is correct. They will require a 2 year history. You can check with your employer to be sure but it's a general fact that insurance will want to see documented evidence of obesity for a certain timeperiod. Even though your husband saved them money by not going to the doctor -_- .

^ this lists the general requirements. Good luck.

Thanks guys...I just read that. Hopefully we can find a way to get that information for him so that will not keep him from being able to have the surgery. He isn't the type to get sick fast so he said he never had a reason to go to the doctor...MEN

I would think that would work.

And tell him to start going to the doctor more often!

If he's getting sleeved, he's going to get to know doctors REALLY well!

I have Aetna and their was the 2 year requirement that my doctor's office "preached" about at the seminar. There was mention that it could be from anywhere like urgent care or such. Maybe you will will figure out a way around it, but I do remember that as a key data point.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
