Update 3 weeks post-op: arms

Recommended Posts

So i had posted a few weeks ago that i was wondering if my arms would go down or if i would have these bat wings hanging well i was looking thru old pics and i was comparing the pics and amazingly hey have been going down. I couldnt notice with just looking but once i saw the difference i was amazed!!!! I havent weighed myswlf just yet this third week. The second week i was in somewhat of a stall and i think its broken now since my pants are fitting much looser than even yesterday! :) Im feeling great. I can sleep either way i want with no pain. Ummm idk what else to say im just waiting it out doing what im supposed to do. Good luck everyone. Just keep positive and be patient and you shall reap the benefits soon enough :-)

Oh, good for you! I have fat arms (even when I was thin) so I'm looking forward to the smaller arms and wearing cute shirts that actually fit my body AND my arms. Enjoy your success!

Good for you!! My arms have always been very large (HUGE actually) and with over 25 years of yo-yo dieting, my arms are worse for the wear. So far, so good since surgery, but I'm trying to avoid more sagging skin, so I'm tightening up a little with exericise and light hand weights.

I'm not looking for perfection, just trying to avoid plastic surgery and gain some definition while losing some jiggle.

Continued success to you.

Wow, I can see a difference in your arms and really see it in your face! I hate my arms & cottage cheese inner thighs!!

I'm 2wks post op today, and am going to take measurements so I can track it along with weekly photos, weight & BMI. I wish I'd thought of it prior to surgery.

Me too i still haveny even measured a thing. In a way my clothes do it for me but i definitely wanna start. Especially with my arms. I also got jiggle in my inner thighs i know theyll still be big but i just want the jiggle gone

My arms were pretty big and have done very well compared to what I expected. I will even wear sleeveless shirts and tank tops. I have an after photo on my profile with my arms showing. You can see I still have a little wing, but nothing that I am embarrassed over.

Btw, your face looks sooooo much thinner already! Good job!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
