So I'm trying to get my mind set right for actually confirming a date to travel to Tijuana Mexico and get my Sleeve... A couple of things just keep running through my head though. I haven't been to the doctor since March when I had a miscarriage and before that it's been years. I did tell my Primary that I was planning on going to Mexico to get it done but I don't really think she believed me because she didn't really say anything about it. I'm planning on using Dr Garcia through Ready 4 a Change, my husbands cousin used him and so did several other people from their church with no complications. Ive spoke with Alma (dr garcias coordinator) and she seems very nice but it just seems like there should be more that I should be doing. I've sent my paperwork and been approved with them, in a couple weeks I'll have the total amount of money for the surgery and travel, it just seems like somethings missing.. I've been reading these blogs off and on now for months but this is my first post. After I'm sleeved do I need to find a doctor to check on how I'm doing or can I actually just go to Mexico and get this done then poof I'll start losing weight? ?!@? Help! LOL I'm starting to freak out!

You will need to see your primary to get blood tests done to make sure that all of your levels are at a normal level for you to be healthy, plus you will need to be on Vitamins. My dr had my levels drawn before surgery so that we have a base line to go off of to see if mine were on the lower side of normal or higher. You may want to see your primary once you have everything set and tell them I really am doing this can you make sure all my levels are normal. The biggest problem my nutritionist had was making sure you are normal now because it is easier to get normal now than to get them normal after your surgery!! Good Luck :)

I went to Mexico and had it done then three months later went to my doctor (she was a new doctor for me) and told her I had WLS. She did some blood tests, took my vitals and checked my incision sites.. Then she said all looks great and that I should just keep doing whatever I've been doing. Easy peasy.

I am going to Tijuana to have the surgery done next week! My primary was against WLS, but I don't have to see her again until November (won't she be shocked)! All the blood work and pre op tests are being done when I get there!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
